Pretty offical now that Triumph are going to be selling a 400 or two in 2024

Looks to have some reasonable kit with it so cannot imagine it will be overly cheap

as the motorcycling population gets older, I can see many turning to smaller capacity lighter bikes so that they can keep riding.
I can see Triumph doing well with these in the Uk market

I think they will have a sucess on their hand’s depending on price…………. They say it will be competitive for the “ class” which would imply £5250 £5500 for a Speed 400 ( road trim) . Or they could push the boat out and do a “Triumph” and aim for £6k.
At 40 hp the engine looks very similar to the Bajaj Dominar 400 an established indian bike. Sure the casings and head are different but its power and torque are very close.
At 44 bhp and 145 kgs my ktm390 duke still boasts better performance plus its fitted with WP suspension. Ill certainly be wanting to try one in Jan when they hit the dealers or Nov at the NEC.

I am surprised that Tryumph and a few others don’t have smaller gateway bikes to gain brand loyalty. Most riders have to start their riding careers on other makes. I know it didn’t do bmw any harm but their story is unique. Yes I know Ducati and Harley are also devoid of smaller bikes but again they have such a devoted following it doesn’t seem to matter. JJH

Yeah, if the specs are like that I'd look at one for my wife. She's currently loving the 145kg weight of her CB300 but not how basic it is and a whopping 27bhp 🙄

When Ducati took the intro price of the Scramber close to 10k late last year they said Ducati is NOT an entry level bike. It should be seen as an aspirational bike ! Sounds like Audi groupspeak. This coming from a brand that was saved by their budget monster range when they were ploughing away with 888’s and 916’s no one could afford.

Looks nice but short stroke and high compression isn't going to go well on an off road bike. The price too might put people off risking it off road. Let's see what the new Himalayan is like eh?

Saw them in the flesh today, (Speed and Scrambler) look great, much bigger looking than I thought. Easily big enough for an "average tosser" No prices displayed tho.

I really like the look of that. Judging by the seat it looks well finished. I like small bikes and understand their limitations, as long as they have enough go. They need to be comfortable at 75mph, or I find them just too restrictive in terms of how you can use them. Hopefully this one ticks those boxes.

I’m 62 fortunate enough to have enjoyed very good health and physical fitness. I can still easily handle my 2016 GS Adventure, but obviously if/when I get to 65 or 70 plus I might consider something like this. Only time will tell, obviously.

It’s certainly had a lot of a build up in the net and in the press.
I hope it lives up to the hype!

I heard today that the road 400 will be £4995 and the Scrambler version £5495

Yep, I couldn't have seen the prices being any lower than that. I do like the idea of getting younger riders (if there are any nowadays) hooked on the brand, seems to make lots of sense.
