At that price i wouldn't worry too much about matching numbers, but they should have a two digit alphabetic date prefix code for month/year, only looking at the paperwork on my phone but can't see them. A photo of the engine stamping underneath the lhs barrel and frame number on the lhs headstock would help?
Year code would be J or K as it denotes the "season" from August to following July.

This example looks clean and complete and imho a disc braked, 5 speed T150v is the best triple to actually ride, and I've owned all of the variants at some point. BUT, I wouldn't recommend a triple as a first Brit bike personally, the old adage of being just a "twin and a half" doesn't really describe some of the intricacies and foibles they present. Having said that, a well sorted one is a joyous experience.

Here's mine ;

As title, do t know much about only the old chap purchased it 30+ years ago, right it need a chain a little bit that hold the throttle cable to the car so, chock cable connecting and there's probably a few other small bits missing. There's know keys or log book just a dating certificate from 1991. The engine turns over, £3000 please the cheapest one out there? Location Stafford can help with delivery, thanks for looking.
I px for an shotgun or air rifle,

Good one jaca2865.
Going on from there, and adding a bit to it as I have registered a few US imports over the last decade, it only costs £55 to do that with the DVLA. I am pleased to say that it actually has become easier....
The bike will be classed as Historic (as long as you put that on the v55 form) and you will not need an MOT or any form of insurance either. Every application must be on the paper form, nothing electronic as yet, but the form can be downloaded etc from their website.
The dating letter as is should prove the age of the bike to the DVLA because there doesn't appear to be any form of US style of logbook. If the dating letter is not accepted, one can be obtained from a recognised owners club not sure what they might charge for one, but it can then be sent if needed etc.
After a few weeks (well possibly 4-6 weeks) you should receive a British v5 and the allocated reg number......simples.
So no need to be hesitant if you fancy buying this t150.
I'd be very hesitant!

I've refrained from posting so far but I currently own three T150s and have previously owned a few others. Over the years I have registered ten imported bikes with DVLA and dealt with HMRC in Belfast several times regarding import duty.

Firstly, the bike is non-matching frame and engine numbers, the frame number shown on the paperwork is 41756 and the engine number is 03685. The bike appears to be a 1974 US market T150V with an earlier engine fitted. This does have a considerable negative effect on the final value if the bike was to be restored.

The bike is a non-runner with some missing parts and it is unknown whether it is a 4 or 5 speed gearbox.

The dating certificate is worthless. The last T150 I registered had a dating certificate that was 3 years old. DVLA returned my application and insisted I submit a new dating certificate, from the same source (TOMCC) which is nonsense but they make up their own rules sometimes.

A current dating certificate from the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club will show where the bike was originally despatched to. If it was outside the UK then a NOVA certificate will be required in order for the DVLA to register the bike. A NOVA certificate shows that any import duty and VAT have been paid, without this the DVLA will not register the bike and it would appear that there is no such paperwork with this bike. I have no idea how it would be possible to circumvent this other than paying the duty based on the bikes current value and even this may not be possible. I would strongly advise any prospective purchaser to contact the HMRC NOVA team in Belfast to clarify this matter before purchase.

Unfortunately, classic bike (and car) prices have crashed and in my opinion this bike is worth only the value of it's parts if broken for spares. I currently have 3 T150s, 2 TR6Cs, a T120C and a T120R which all stand me at more than their current market value, things might pick up but then again they might not.

If the OP wants to find it's true value, put it on Ebay. (y)

I was under the impression that if the NOVA has been completed then HMRC would have the data on their system. If you get the reference number from them that may pacify DVLA. Interesting reading here:

Okay, I lied about the interesting bit

A current dating certificate from the TOMCC would help, £45 for non-members https://tomcc.org/Home/Services

With any luck it may show that the bike wasn't exported and therefore no NOVA process required, as was the case with one of my T150s.

The last two Triumphs i registered late last year didn't have NOVA certs but i went ahead with the Registration process anyway
and my Log Books dropped on the door mat four weeks later and this was after a call to Belfast who stated Not On Our System

Good luck with your sale

I understand the dropping values etc for classic bikes and I don't want to get caught with too many myself if they never rise again, but this bike might be just what someone is looking for to restore, ride after just a simple re-commission etc etc, so talk of breaking it may be a little early, a buyer might come forward.
I have read the replies on here and I think some of us are missing the point slightly.
The bike was imported form the US in 1991, that is stated on one sheet in the photo.
Secondly, there is a declaration from the importer (Chell Motorcycles) that the duties had been, or will be paid, and a reference number was stated - CTR 729.
We need to understand that the great system that is NOVA has only been in operation since 2013, before that was something different - which I have been unable to check out the details of to be honest this morning. But in essence, it does seem that it should be on the HMRC/VAT system somewhere. Best to call them direct to ask etc.
Many years ago I bought a Suzuki T500 and had the NOVA reference number but it was the wrong frame number stated on it, one phone call sorted that and the system was updated.
Before we all get carried away, contact the powers to be and flesh out the truth, update the listing (or start a new one clear of all this stuff) and see who wants to buy the bike. The more info you give any interested buyer might well help sell it.

No insurance? Surely that'd be needed to be road legal? Or do you mean road tax in which case you do need to obtain it but it costs £0?
The post was referring to the registration process for which you don't need insurance, you'll need it as/when you put it on the road.
Checking for NOVA is pretty easy if you have the frame number, the TOMCC or the VMCC can confirm if it was exported as they hold the despatch records.
I said earlier non matching numbers don't really matter at that price, that assumes the buyer isn't delusional about future trends on classic bikes, wants a project and would base a purchase decision after actually looking at it. Restore them, ride them and ignore anyone who thinks the prices are going back up, simple supply and demand. Just my opinion of course, but it's a diminishing market and LOTS of bikes out there.

Exactly - having just bought an old car I'm not even thinking about a return on it as I'll be happy to put effort (& money) into restoring, modding and maintaining it and then enjoying driving the thing around. What happens to it when I can't drive it any more due to advancing years, illness or lack of suitable fuel isn't really something I'm going to worry about right now.

Well folks next week I might start the registration process, I under stand it can be a little work and cost, some will say it will devalue it 😒 what do I know 🤔
