Triumph Twentyone

It is a Devonshire number plate JB. 621 BOD The OD being the Devon area code before 1963. It was registered new to a Peter James Lynch of Barnstaple, 3rd July 1959. It then had one other owner in Barnstaple before being sold to a guy in 1967 who lived 200yds from where I grew up in Bideford. He is still about so I will ask him about it next time I see him.

I recognise the OD bit as Devonshire reg, but thought it was a local Barnstaple prefix, whereas I think Exeter was TA & Torquay TT

Just a bit more local interest for you as local up there

Nooooooo it'll look shite :blast

Keep it original .... it's not a question of cost :rob

:beerjug:

The bike has already been painted at least once Micky but I know where you are coming from. Like you, I love to see patina on a M/C (just as long as they belong to someone else) :D

Here's my old Speed Twin, taken back in the early 80s I think. Where are you now 613 JUP?

I'd take it off and put it on a shelf.

The first time I came across the medical term 'de-gloving' was dealing with an RTA where the rider of a Triumph with one of those racks got injured in a minor collision...

A Motorcycling acquaintance of mine (now sadly deceased) spent some time in hospital after damaging his 'manhood' on one of those racks back in around 1970.

Only refit it when showing :augie.

That's a great find, there are a couple around here that turn up at Classic events and they look good and go well (though twenty one cubic inches isn't going to set the world alight :D).

The old "restore it or leave it original" dilemma continues. Personally I prefer to restore them back to original condition - or better (stainless fasteners etc).

I look at my '58 Ariel VH which has at least three different shades of Ariel Deep Claret with the tank in Ariel 'Glamour' red and think . . No, I've got to restore it fully :blast.

:D :D

Enjoy it, and let us see more pictures when you've finished it :thumb.

Bob.

... it's even got the rack to catch your nads when the brakes prove less than adequate and you smite something solid :blast

OK ... let you off. If the paint is not original anyway then no harm can become of it :thumb

If the rack didn't catch yer knackers, the greet-big mushroom of a steering damper would!! Ask me how I know...

My second bike - identical to this. Never has 17bhp been so much fun!

627 RHN where are you now?
