I'm having trouble opening some pdf and jpeg files on my macbook air.

When I click on the document to open it, the following message comes up on some of them "The Application Preview is no longer available".

Ideas anyone?

Preview is an 'app' that allows you to view an image/PDF without opening it up with the associated software.

I use 'one click' on the file to highlight it, then the space bar to view it (ie not using the associated software) and if I want it in it's associated software (eg Acrobat for PDF's) I open that up first and then drag and drop the file into it.

Not sure if that helps?

Thanks Andres as that seems to work. I normally just double click on the file and it opens so gawd knows what's happened. I need to have a clear out and tidy up so that may help it.

that's called Quick Look. when that window is open, there should be an option to Open In Preview. does that work? probably not. i did a search on the web, but it didn't come up with anything relevant.

maybe a reboot will sort it. after that, i'd try the old Repair Permissions voodoo.
