Trying to avoid being ripped off by local dealer

Hi every one, thanks for all your past help, deposit down today, deal done k1200GS on its way ! Yikes its a lot of money, anyway. I as very tempted by k1200s that was selling well under price. 773 miles on the clock they ride beautifully....
Ok my reason for this post is I have done a good deal on new gs trouble is I now need to get: Immobiliser fitted, extra euro socket, a different exhaust, cylinder guards and engine crash bar fitted. Now the problem is there is only one BMW dealer here. Prices are astronomical and i think because i got a good deal on the bike, that they will try and claw it back on the above items.
They are unwilling to show me the parts costings, but have told me that the immobiliser will cost £382 to sup and fit. Do any of you good folk know what a reasonable price for the above items should be. Great site.
 
The GS has an immobiliser built in, you mean alarm don't you. If alarm go for the BMW £215 fitted price. Be careful as a lot of aftermarket alarms play havoc with the canbus.
Never saw the point in getting cylinder guards and crash bars, just get some crash bars, look on here as there is much debate over the best ones, but BMW are the most expensive, try Hepco and becker.
 
does on the r1200gs, the bike checks the key and then reports back to the ecu. I had a BMW alarm system fitted in october last year for £215 all fitted. My alarm company that I usually use wouldn't fit a meta as they said it would cause no end of problems with the can bus. So nearest BMW dealer fitted genuine alarm, saved me £75. And I don't know where your dealer gets £382 for an alarm, a meta cost £299 supplied and fitted by an alarm co, and a Datatool only £20 more
 
If you are worried about getting ripped off, go elsewhere or mailorder. Most of the items you mention are simple bolt on jobs whihc you could do yourself.

3 bolts per side to fit Touratech cylinder guards in 10 minutes and I am mechanically inept ! If you have good alloy cylinder protectors there is not a real need for crash bars. I also managed to fit a BOS end can in lieu of the standard.

I would not bother with an additional alarm immobiliser as the BMW already comes with a coded key. Invest instead in a good quality chain lock such as Abus.

Extra power socket is usefull and is probably the only item I would get the BMW dealer to supply & fit as the canbus wiring is a bit of a bugger however this should cost <£50.
 
Extra socket

All as above, but you can wire the extra socket straight to the battery (through a suitable fuse). The sockets are widely available and cheap, and it's easy to do youself.

Extra socket comes as a kit.
It clips onto the existing socket wiring (piggybacks onto it) so no messing around.
You'll need to drill a hole up front near the bars to mount it.

Twotter the original exhaust sounds like a bloody Jap lawn mower. It will be for sale soon if anybody would like it ?
