Fitting two TT Micro DE fogs to my adventure (1150) to use primarily as daytime running lights.
Do I need to install two relays, two fuse units and two switches as provided or can I run both lights through one relay unit , switch and fuse ? (or any combination of the above).

Am I right in thinking that these can be upgraded to HID? (looking at other posts here). If so, this is a route I will take, so it would be good to install most of the required cabling now.

First real attempt at any electrical install on my bike so I would to do it properly for a change.

Thanks for any advice on this.

the de's will run fine through one relay and switch, i converted mine to hids easily.

one word of advice, if you want hids do it now, saves raving all the wiring out later on :blast

good :)
First problem I found was the TT instruction sheet and the Haynes manual that I am using to refer to electrical wiring seems to be f*ck all use for my bike. E.G. "bring the yellow cable forward to the left low beam headlight and put it on the white/yellow cable."
I do not have have a white/yellow cable on my "left low beam headlight".
The photographs do not look like my bike.
I do not have a blue/gray cable coming from my smaller black box.
I suspect that all the wiring diagrams I am looking at refer to something that is not my 2003 1150 adventure.
I am frustrated.
rc mad..... did you install yours on the same bike as mine? if so your wiring colours/connections would be appreciated as a guide.
Any input accepted here....comfortable with mechanical stuff, but when you take the tank off and and see more wiring connections than a space shuttle  Its a motorbike FFS :nenau

just looked at the instructions on the touratech site, they are vague to say the least  I have a 650gs Dakar so not the same bike but the principles are the same :D

Basically you need a switched supply to energize the relay through the handlebar switch, really easy to do, providing you know the wire colors and you wire stuff up for a living :augie

this will work, i've cross referenced with the 650 instructions and a 1150gs wiring diagram.

tt kit yellow wire to motorbike sidelight bulb positive - from the 1150 diagram on the internet its the black /grey wire same as on the 650 (could have got confused in translation) (double check with Haynes manual / bike for correct wire color on your bike (note that all the bikes bulbs will have one wire that is the same color, thats the negative / earth wire. you'll want the other wire going into the bulb) (sidelight bulbs are the small ones btw, just in case you didn't know that ;) )

tt wire with the fuse 15 amp from memory, that goes to the battery positive, unsure of color because neither instructions mention it at all, i think it's red and a fairly thick wire second to last wire to connect

tt kit brown wire - bike battery negative terminal (don't connect till everything else is done, tape it up so it doesn't accidentally short to earth either) last wire to connect.

tt red wire - positive to fog lights (connects to the white wire from the bulb)

tt blue wire negative to fog lights (connects to the little tab inside the housing)

The relay should already be connected up to the tt loom, leave it as is ;)

hope that helps, if you were closer I'd offer to come across and do yours, Devon is a fair way off tho and i have work tomorrow :blast and 3 days away after that :D

I think the yellow white wire part of the tt instructions refer to the Desierto II touratech bikes, if you wire it as i've said the fogs will be switchable with the sidelights on (and with low / high beam)
