here is the situation..........

My Rider 2 was working fine this morning.........

mate pulls up on his GS with a Rider 1 wired up direct to battery and asks me to connect my rider to his power lead to test the charge is working........

My Rider will no longer start, turn on or come to life !!

:blast

any ideas ?

I have tried the little reset hole but to no avail.

If it's the round coaxial connector...

...then that should be 5 V only on the centre pin, according to both a TT 1 & TT2 I have just looked at; they're not mine by the way.

So, how your mate's was okay I don't yet know but am looking at a TT2 which is not powering up for other reasons. In fact just not powering up at all.

I'll try and learn something about these power problems TT owners are experiencing and find a solution.

Anyway, was it the round connector you used and what voltage can you measure off your mates bike (even though you've stated direct to battery)?

Try and see if you can test a separate docking shoe with your TT unit - I've had 2 docking shoes go in within a year of just buying mine - now on my third! They seem very finicky. Luckily TT have replaced each failed unit under warranty. Hope you get it sorted mate.

To cut a long story short, my device got fried.

Next Question.............

I have now bought a refurbished rider 2 which is working fine, allows me to update my maps at first connection but then once it goes through its restart process it says no maps found !!

Any advice ? I have emailed Tom Tom but i dont expect a rapid response.

did you make a backup first?

It sounds like there was a issue downloading the latest map and you are now stuck without a map on your devlce.

The other thing possible is that the map downloaded correctly into home but not your TT.

Click install voices maps etc button in HOME and then go to the last page where it says "items on my computer".

Re attempt to install the map that should be there in the list if you have sucessfully downloaded the correct map.
