TTR1 Dismantling

Hi,

I am trying to dismantle my TTR1 to check the charging connector for a dry joint, replace the battery, and see if i can adjust the position of the cradle connectors.

I've removed the four security hex bolts but there is still something preventing the unit separating - any ideas/info/knowledge anyone?
(i've tried searching but no apparent threads)

iirc the conectors under the flap get in the way of splitting the case plus have you taken the screws out from under the little round covers . mine came appart with a bit of a wriggle. the screen stays attached to the front part of the case. so i think the only thing you are missing is a bit of faith you wont break it

In bits now - lets see if it goes back together when I've finished fiddlin.

Be very careful, you dont want to break it!!!

With car PNDs you can usually remove the screw and using the torx tool gently apply pressure to where the screw came from, if you can place the tool inside the case but on top of the threaded area where the screw mounts then you may be able to move it.

There may be additional points on a Rider that im unaware of so if you start putting any decent amount of pressure on the case then you must have missed one.

I had a similar problem with the charging connector. Intermittent charging from the car connector or the mains charger. Not a dry joint but solder cracked round the pin. Once you get the back off you also have to lift the PC board that is facing you to get at the charging socket joints. Undo all the screws and lift up gently. It feels as if it is stuck to the main body but it is connected to the main body directly by a multi pin connector with no wires and it unplugs itself as you lift it. It pushes back in easily when you come to reassemble it.
