I've seen R1200GS advertised as TU and MU

e.g. R1200GS ADVENTURE TU

What is the TU or MU bit mean? I'm guessing that it's model series code of some kind. Is there a list somewhere?

Sorry if this is a FAQ - I did search but no results - not sure is the search has indexed two letter words.

So in summary it means feck all if you know the year?

It relates to a Model year 2008 update bike (105bhp with better gearbox etc.), or a model year 2010 update bike (110bhp and again better gearbox with lowered gearing and twin cam engine).

& there is a fairly big difference between the two bike in ride and feel - to me at least. I have them side by side in my garage and the MY08 bike is more comfortable to ride at normal speed limits and is a more relaxed bike to ride - the MY10 bike is sharper and louder.
