Job for life being bullied by the government and the media.
Lucky me..

propaganda

It's encouraging to note that quite a few tossers have seen through the propaganda manufactured by Govt, Media and especially employers organisations to split the workforce in this country. By the sound of it, most are also PAYE workers and caught in the net whether public or private.
Yes, the cost base of doing anything in this country needs to be addressed, but not by joining a race to the bottom for worker's pay and conditions while employers/developers etc continue to rake in the profits.

50 grand - HAH! 20% less than that and dropping more soon
Plus overtime - no chance. but am expected to somehow do what was 'over'time in normal working hours.
Plus 36 days paid holiday -no. 21 + another 6 as we work a 40 hour week and it's supposed to be 39
Plus 2 shopping days at christmas -
Plus uncertified sick days - granted; 6 of them per annum- used as evidence against you if seeking internal promotion
10 days paid compassionate leave - news to me / never heard of it being granted.
10 days paid leave if you volunteer for the RNLI - GOOD! :P. (still, never heard of it)
5 days paid leave when you get married -irrelevant to the majority / good luck to the minority! :D
Unlimited certified sick leave - no, it's not.
Job for life - perhaps, but...... well - there's more buts than there's room for on this website.

divide and conquer.
set one group against another.
lie, massage statistics and hide the real culprits guilt.
yep - it's working. :blast

I couldn't agree more. The government, Ibec and the media are doing the same thing as the Orange Order did in the north almost 90 years ago by splitting the populace into 2 warring factions in order to keep control.
It is time for revolution and it is a pity Enda does not engender any degree of confidence, maybe he will step aside and let a more dynamic person take his place...maybe then we can reclaim some decent standard of living for ALL of the people not just those who know someone....

I totally agree with you Steve, that we need a revolution to Oust this government. They keep saying that they were elected to carry out their mandate. Well, their mandate has failed as it was suppose to keep the country going in the direction it was going.
They need to be sacked, and sacked fast, and given that the Greens are not going to do that, well then it must be down to the democracy which elected them (no it was not me, not in a million years would I vote FF).

Lets hope FG see a change in leader though before an election as we all know Enda does not instill confidence in anyone. Richard Bruton would be so much better.

Roll on the revolution:thumb2

Look up the word apathy and I sure it shows a small green nation on the western fringes of Europe.... So I won't hold my breath

splitting the populace into 2 warring factions in order to keep control.....

'fraid there more than 2 factions so there won't be a war... Don't forget the farmers, small businesses (who I think have the smallest voice and thus most screwed), self employed etc etc...All of us think we're getting more screwed than the other ... take a deep breath and pass the vaseline.

FF & FG . .

. .the Tweedledum & Tweedledee of Irish politics. Look back; there is no such phenomenon as an ENLIGHTENED electorate here.

Why would anyone take a job in the public sector - safe, cushy, well paid, good pension, great allowances, early retirement etc etc - have a look at the GRA site for an example -
http://www.gra.cc/salary_scales.shtml
I'm 10 years in my job and my basic is higher than the equivalent garda but add in all the extras they get and the overtime rates and they have some sweet deal.
And to think that I could retire with a full pension at 50 :clap feck me that would be the icing on the cake.

I've been laid off before and also went through a 3 year pay freeze when the rest of the country was booming - if the money isn't there you have to take the hit simple as that.

Ye have to change the mind-set in the public service - case in point - no water at the moment where I work - fine we make do - brought in portaloos etc. What happened in all the public sector offices around the area - gone home for the week :blast

Don't know where you work but my wife (public sector) has been at work (with no water) in Cork since the flooding including the weekend.

No doubt he is yet another member of the Private sector trying to stir it and make themselves look better than the public service with unsubstantiated 'Bull'.:mmmm

I just cant figure it out.
The Irish are reputed around the world to be well educated and an inteligent
race of people, Yet we let our politician's away with incompetance and fraud .
and we let the politician's and the media turn one Irish man against another.
