I've been meaning to do this for a while (no good today - p***ing down). A couple of us (Barnabus and I) are planning an evening run from the Isle of Wight to Poole Quay. I'm told it's a fun evening with loads of bikes. Anybody from the Island interested? We could meet up with any mainlanders at some appointed place and time. Also hope Stig will come along but at the moment he's up an Italian Alp on his GSA. How about you, Island Ranger? Leave those books for a while and have a night off!

We thought we might catch the 6.30 (18.30) ferry from Yarmouth on Tuesday evening the 10th June. I suggest we meet at the Yarmouth ferry at 6.15?

If it's lousy weather we'll postpone.

Hi ya barfly :thumb Nick and I have done this run a few times now but have left a bit earlier as it soon fills up and its good to watch the other bikes come in. Stacks of bikes, great atmospere, keep saying we gotta do it again this yr sometime, nick says that he will probably be up for it even if I am not but advises to leave earlier than that :thumb2

Thanks for that bit of advice, Little Beemer. We'd be able to leave earlier for sure but Ian (Barnabus) and I thought it might be tricky if someone's working. Luckily I work from home at the beginning of the week so don't have that problem! How about the 6pm ferry or even the 5.30? We're open to offers...

Just speakin to nick as he is in bed watchin tv :augie and he reckons ya best getting the 5pm boat (mind you he dont get in nowadays until after 5 from work himself) as others start turning up from 6pm down there, they close off the quay to other vehicles and only the bikes are allowed thru, they take a £1.00 off of you as you ride in which goes to charity, if you have never been you will be amazed on a nice night just how many bikes they get down there  I am sure he will post here himself once he gets his hairy arse out of bed, prob be tomorrow night ;)

The earlier the better as far as I'm concerned but happy to fit around the poor unfortunate people who have to work for a living.

Hi, Enjoy this night, I took the mrs a a year ago, while visiting family in the N/forest, Police in attendence and loads of food with a big Q snaking away from the kiosk and if it rains a few bars to go into, or on the way home.

We're going to be meeting at the Yarmouth ferry at 4.45pm to catch the 5pm ferry. A gentle meander through the New Forest and then to Poole. Sorry if it's a bit early for anyone but there didn't seem to be many takers. If anyone can make it it'll be great to see you.

Change of time - 5pm Yarmouth ferry

Should have put a title to draw attention to the time change. :blast:blast

What time do you plan on landing at Lymington?
I might just persuade her indoors to break out her Guzzi and come along.

Would love to of come along but due to work committments am unable to make it, looks as though you will be for a great night mind as weather is fab, should be heaving down there, you will love it ! Another time we hope :D

I'll be there this evening, so will keep my eyes open for a group of GS's down there :D

Mine's a black 07 with remus end can, and will be parked next to a well used silver RSV...

Poole Quey

Best to meet at a predefined spot (Like the Nelson pub on the quey). It does get busy!!:bounce1

Good to meet you all

What a cracking evening. it was good to meet you guys. I was a tad late meeting the SO on the Quay so rather than go to the overflow park I dodged round the back streets, smooth talked a Marshall and squeezed in by a barrier 100m from the central meet.
I looked around for you lads ,sadly you were lost in the throng. Sounds like it saved me a few bob then Millard !!
Till the next time
Frank

That's a brilliant write-up Millard! Well worth looking at the photographs... Really enjoyed meeting you and Frank (Old Codger). I endorse everything you say in the post accompanying the photos. Ian and I just missed the 10.15 ferry so had to wait til midnight for the next one. The joys of living on the Isle of Wight!

I don't know if it was all the diet coke I drank (dangerous stuff) or fatigue but dropped the bike going down the farm track to home. Ended up with my leg pinned underneath so had to wake my glorious wife from her slumbers at 1am to ease it up so I could get from under (thank God for mobiles). Cosmetic damage and a smashed indicator lens. Could be worse! I really must go on that BMW Off road course one of these days... Anyway, great evening all round.
