Hi Guys,

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed previously, couldn't find any posts on this.

2013 GSA last of the air cooled, went to start after winter break and wouldn't turn over quick enough to start, was fine all last summer. Assumed (incorrectly) it was the battery but new battery made no difference. Cleaned up all battery cables and ground point. Swapped out the starter motor from another bike and still the same. So I'm thinking now the decompressor is not working, could this happen after been parked for the winter? Do these jam or seize? Would valve clearance have any bearing on this?

I've no idea how they work on this bike, I do understand the principle ok.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

The air/oil cooled bikes do not have a decompressor.

The water cooled engines do for sure.

Can't recall seeing any on the Hexhead twin cams.

New starter motor cured the problem. scorched from Motorcycleparts Horning GmbH, good company to deal with. I got their high torque version, works very well, I have never seen a GS turn so good :banana Price including delivery €250, took about a week and a half to arrive.

Thanks for your replies.
