Not that it'll matter to the majority of 1200 owners, if that new head makes it into the GS, it'll be the end for DIY servicing. It's an expensive, complex radial valve affair which because of cam drive constraints, operates an exhaust and a inlet valve from each camshaft. They also use expensive skew ground cam shafts with lash adjusted via shims - outside the abilities of most home mechanics to work on.
All this is to improve gas flow / power at high revs but the head is actually bulkier and heavier than the current single cam head - not a problem in a sports bike, but I just can't see the point in the GS. Surely the last thing the GS needs is a high reving, heavier, more expensive motor?
