Twin Cam Top box on LC

I'm thinking of swopping the Twin cam in for a GSA LC and the top box looks visually the same as the old one. The fitting is of course totally different so I was wondering if anyone has found a way to fit the old box to the new LC GSA?

I'm sure I could bodge the plate to fit but I'd like it to look nice and don't really want to spend £350 on a new box.

You should be able to buy just the plate which is bolted to the bottom of the box which is all that is needed to connect it to the 2014 rack.
Have a look at one in the dealers you will see what I mean

Top box

Just took a look at my box and see what you mean, assuming BMW will sell the brackets separately it could be the answer. Both dealers I've spoken to just said it won't fit...end of.

If it won't fit, chances are you could get a decent substitute plate made.

The cost? Less than the £350 for a new topbox, no doubt.

The buggering around of getting it made? Up to you.

Sell the second hand box on here, and get your dealer to knock 15-20% off a new one (they can do it, you just have to push them ).

Weirdly , though the new GSA box looks the same , it is not . It actually feels of better quality , the locking system feels more robust ., but I guess you could get a plate made up . Personally I'd sell your old one and buy a fresh one . Or get the dealer to put one on as part of the deal . They did for me

OR pop on fleabay and get a 2nd hand vario like i did for £176 !!! with pillion back pad !
Ok i still have to buy the mounting plate and get the lock done but sooooo much cheaper than a new box.

Have you considered a waterproof roll bag ? What do you carry ? This will be far cheaper and won't upset the handling of your bike...

Prefer hard luggage as I carry laptop etc for work and like to leave stuff covered. Yes I know that you can break in easy enough though. Varios, had them and much prefer the Ali boxes.

Don't Touratech make the BMW boxes? Might be worth contacting them for the formentioned 2013 bracket.

Or sell your box & fittings & pay the lesser difference for new ones.

Touratech do make the new boxes, mine even has the Touratech stickers inside. but I think the GS ones are different plates to the 2014 GSA

I do like the new latches on the WC aluminium boxes they look a vast improvement on the older ones

But now that I have the new one i am actually glad that i have
It is better built.
Is bigger so now I can fit my crash helmet in

Thats correct but its still got a locating plate bolted to the bottom of the box, and if you could get hold of one or make one then you would be ok.
