Twin Spark is now Official

Just to pour more petrol onto the fire, there's an interesting thread on the US advrider BB about the 2004 model being water cooled. Sheesh, I bought BM because they seemed more constant than the others. Now they're changing models every year. 2002 (2v), 2003 (twin spark), 2004 (water cooling).

Bugger. :(

no more 2 plugs...?

so..., NOW the 4 plugs engines are in production?

no more those 2 plugs except those already on the markets???

sure would like to see a road tests between the 2 to see any
hugh differences in performance, handling, surging, etc...:o

cheers,
kaz

Apparently the torque curve and power output remain the same, the engine is now supposedly more efficient, we will have to wait and see.
It was a nice bonus to find that the new engine was being fitted seeing as the bike was supposed to be built in November but is now being built in Feb.

twin spark

Am i supposed to be p....ed off because i've just picked up my new GS? Or will the difference be negligable? My new bike has all the other mods for 2003 - uprated gearbox, hard wiring of headlights etc etc. what is surging? how do i recognise the symptoms. never had surging on any other bikes i have owned.

Don't be pissed off - you beat the 1 January 2003 price hike!

:D

Greg

Ahh Greg I also beat the price hike but pick up the bike in March.

Twin spark:blast

They'll be fitting them with servo brakes next......!:augie

My German 03' R1150GSA was a single spark, silver engined non servo ABS model and it's date of manufacture was late 2001.........:nenau

I think it was the 67th Adventure or something from it's serial number and left hand drive aswell.

Bought it new from Block AM Ring Braunchweig in December 02(couldn't get one in Scotland) and kept it in the shed untill march 03 when i registered it in the UK.

I like these old thread resurrections but i can't remember my old username on UKGSer in 2003 when I used my mates computer and the dial up took forever

FP.

I agree that the sound of a diesel on a bike doesn't somehow fit on a bike, but on the other hand think of going all the way to Madrid on one tank of diesel. Or overland traveller's doing 140 miles to the galon. Or conmuting....etc, etc.

Ah Yosi, where's that man now, still trying to whack dislocated shoulders into place when in fact they have a broken collar bone? (Jez:D)...or did he meet Snoopy?
