Hi all,had my 08 800gs 5 weeks and love it,read a couple of snippets on here about the front end being bit light/vague.Was over the lakes few weeks ago one up fully loaded, on the return journey i packed the top box with a lot of heavy stuff and noticed a diff on the front end(it was raining hard and i have tkc80s on)...i,m due over again next week with a passenger on this time...any pointers to settle it a bit,i dont want to drop the forks so prob just play with susp settings...thanks tom

hi tom

heavy stuff as low down as possible firstly - i did the 'bottles of wine/water in the top box' on holiday once. ONCE :D

secondly, do you carry a bike chain and use a tank bag? if yes wrap your chain aroudn the tank bag to carry it, works a treat at balancing the weight out. :thumb2

2 up plays havoc with the suspension. You'll go straight on at every corner unless you wind the rear preload up. You'll also bounce everywhere until you add some damping. It doesn't need much though.

To set the pre-load, adjust so that your feet are the same as one up (tip toes in my case). Add the damping half a turn at a time.

Recently the front end on my 800 has felt a bit crappy with only me on it... handlebars wobble during deceleration (throttle off, hands off handlebar makes it obvious).

No idea what's causing it, might be suspension setup... seems like it's only happend recently, wondering if it could be a tyre issue.

Whatever, I'm just guessing.

Is your rear tyre squaring off?

i had this happen on TL1000S once, turned out to be tyre pressure too low.
Good luck sorting it, annoying problem that is:thumb
