Hi,
I'm trying to find a rim clamp (rim lock or security bolt or tyre clamp) to fit to the rear wheel of my F650 Dakar but I am not having any success since the wheel is wider than most off-road applications.
I'm currently intending to use the original wheel which is 3.00x17 and the "widest" clamp I can find is for a 2.50 wheel.
Can anyone suggest somewhere I might find a suitable clamp? If not does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative?
Cheers,
Doug.

Try finding a bike that uses a 3.00 rim, that has a clamp as standard and purchase an original spare.
KTM, CCM or Honda may be a start.
Or try these people http://www.racespec.co.uk/
Have you checked whether BMW list them? Maybe for another model of machine.
Best of luck
Timpo.

I went to a KTM dealer and they installed a rim lock on the rear of my 2002 Dakar. It was tricky aparently, but they did it. I believe it was a KTM part.

rodskogj,
Do you recall the name of the dealer you used? I haven't had any luck so far. The nearest KTM dealer to me doesn't appear all that helpful (probably just a natural reaction to me). And I must confess I haven't tried a CCM dealer yet.
If the dealer you used is in Australia I guess I'll try emailling them to see if they recall what bits they used.

What's so tricky about that task?:nenau Monkeys!
Doesn't the Dakar650 already have a hole in the rim for a clamp?
If not, drill one the same size as the hole for the tube valve. And remember the rim tape goes over the clamp not under it, as I found a KTM dealer had done to a friends EXC, Monkeys!
