Can you tell me what are the proper tyre size for a

R 80G/S monolever 1981 in imperial and metric size

Thank you

they are not direct equivalents. that's why tyres are still made in both imperial & metric.

look at fitting guide on manufacturers sites.

It does vary a lot....and there`s two different rim sizes fitted by the factory.

Some were 2.25" width and some were 2.5" width.

Imperial is going to be 4.60 x 18 regardless of rim width.

Metric will vary between 120/80 x 18 and 130/80 x 18.

I`ve fitted all the above sizes over the years ( I`ve got a 2.5" rim on mine ).

The thing to be wary of is the actual TREAD width,as a 130/80 Michelin T63 will rub very slightly on a Spax monoshock but just clear a stock monoshock.

A 4.60 Pirelli MT40 looks very skinny,whereas a 4.60 Trelleborg Army special looks like a monster tyre.
