Well after another off road trip , i decided that since the Metzlers were nearly done anyway , it was time to try a new pattern.

I picked three tyre patterns (Tourance,Scorpions and TKC'80's) and rang my normal supplier/fitter of tyres. a well known BMW Dealer , (Although I rang the sister branch in Belfast).
All three tyres were available (although required a days notice to get them) , and the prices were reasonable , but no they dont work after 5 during the week , and the workshop was full on Saturday.
They were NOT nasty , nor short with me , but i certainly did not feel impressed by the conversation I had with them.

I then discovered (Google is our Friend) a mobile service , Smoking slicks , Stevie on (0044) 07803137511.
I chatted with him , over my riding style , and the GS1200 , and my choice of patterns. He then called me back , and all three prices , fitted at my work , when i wanted were cheaper than the main BMW dealer. (With me riding to the dealer for fitting !!!)

I finished the phone call , and booked him to come to my work next week , with a set of new hoops , TKC80's !!!!

Great guy , would heartily recommend him.
I am NOT condeming the main tyre dealer in Belfast , just the smaller operater gave me more feeling of confidence.

thanks for that - will keep him in mind for the S1000 tyre renewal as i reckon it will get there before my GS :D

I'll let you know how they are on , and off road in the next weeks or two !!!
The Tourances , are grand on road , two up , and scratching , but pretty much rubbish once you hit moss/grass when its wet.
I am at the end of their life , and happened to be at the top of slieve Colim kill in donegal last week , and got disqusted by the lack of grip on the moss/boggy section at the top of the mountain , (the scorpion clad KTM's were laughing at me !!!)

I looked at Scorpions , but apparently people in the know reckon that the conti's suit the GS better than the scorpions.

I believe she will be a VERY different lady onj the road , in the wet with the TK's , and also believe that they are only rated for 99 mph , so no more hooning about for me !!!

Hursts (it was indeed them) were grand weith their price , but they just didn't seem to want my business (that's my personal feeling and opinion) whereas Stevie at Smoking slicks , was helpful , and offered his own advice , originally thought Scorpions and TK's were a silly idea , but when he called back , after having discussed it with his suppliers , he endorsed my choice !! seems like a nice guy , but tuesday will tell.
