I am new to the forum, so I will appologise in advance for any cock-ups! I have an '03 F650 GS Dakar currently running on TKC's, these are showing signs of age and wear, I was concidering putting the Hiedenau K60 Scouts on, look just as cool as the TKC's but reputed to last longer. has anybody out there in forum land had any experience of the Heidenau's that they would like to share with the newby?
I will post a piccy of my bike in due course.

Welcome to the forum.

Can't help with the scouts I'm afraid as I've never run them although I thought tkc's were fairly hard. If you're mainly using the bike on Tarmac then I can recommend Anakees. If its off road tyres you're after then some of the Trelleborgs (i think its the Dakar) are getting good press. I run Karoos myself but they don't last too long.

Tyres & DIN socket

Thanks Dansin,
its a 70/30 tyre (on/off road) I'm after, the TKC's seem to behave well enough on road I just fancied trying out the scouts after reading an article, but maybe they will be more off road biased than I need.
I am thinking of fitting an external DIN socket to allow me to condition the battery without having to remove the 'tank' fairings every time, any suggestions on where would be a good place to fit the socket?

You could do a lot worse than a set of Anakees. Great on road and fine on a bit of gravel etc but useless in mud.

If it doesn't already have an accessory socket fitted the OEM location would be ideal. Or you could always use croc clips on the charging post under the seat (+) and on the oil filter cover (-).

Don't think you'll be disappointed with the Hiedenau K60 Scouts unless you ride in wet mud in which case they'll be just as poor as TKCs, otherwise they're great allround tyre

Thanks Dansin, really handy info; I need to buy a Haynes manual, didn't realise that there was a charging post under the seat!!! However, I enjoyed taking the fairing apart to find the battery to charge it.

Timolgra, I see you've got a set on your bike, what pressures do you run on? For General road use. Nice picture where was that?
