With the firewall connected I keep getting "The page cannot be displayed" message when trying to connect to this site... only this site!!!

It also stops some thumbnails displaying on other sites but not the functionality or access.

Firewall set to Allow All & everything connects fine.

I've tried individually allowing each program to full access & then set them all to full access to no avail... there's something else in there blocking some active content.

Using McAfee firewall on XP SP2.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Interesting as I get the same thing happening with e-bay.

But in that instance it's a bonus :D

Make sure that the Windows firewall is disabled and then see if there is a setting to allow specific sites.

Don't know about McAfee, but Norton had a screen where it was possible to override the default settings for specific websites.

It was still a pile of poo so I'm now using ZoneAlarm with no problems.

Some time back I noticed that an IP address was sending packets that caused my BlackIce firewall to issue an alert. So I blocked, and then thought this site was down - D'oh.

Suspect that McAfee picked up the same incoming packets and has blacklisted the site. You need to find where you can configure individual IP addresses, and then unblock 205.214.89.23. Sorry don't use, or like, the McAfee package for the same reason that I do not like or use Macs - it does things without telling me, and makes it difficult to sort problems.

Zonealarm is good, and I suspect that the Windows firewall works as well, if you have XP that is.

Cheers for that Shugie... I know how to do that so I'll give it a go when I get back.

I was thinking about switching to Zonealarm but I've heard good & bad about it... I'm running the XP firewall as well (no it made no difference on/off for this problem) but like some of the McA features... & while it's running OK I'm happy to keep it.

Thanks again...

I had a similar thing happen just a few minutes ago - Norton Internet Security thought it detected some sort of SQL attack and 'autoblocked' Pauls IP address until I cleared it.

If I do this does it mean Paul could upload my Barry Manilow MP3 collection when I'm not looking?

I don't know, but if you're lucky he'll delete it from your drive at the same time :D
