Ultimate engine paint make/colour

Halfords Very High Temperature Paint is about as close as I've found. You'd have to really look carefully to see the difference in colour to the other engine parts on mine. It really depends on how faded/dirty/old the existing paint is though. A really good, cleaned up keying followed by a couple of coats of primer and then the engine paint. Been on for a year and not flaked or chipped yet.

used this too, only ay notics the diff in colour is where the paint wasnt sanede down properly and can see it bubling up again

btu its good paint and close to the original colour
 
Mine is also looking like it could do with doing, is it a big job?
I've looked for a guide, but can't seem to find anything,

is it a case of getting the case off and sanding, priming, painting?

That's the best way TBH. When sanding just make sure you get rid of all of the oxidised bits otherwise they'll bubble back through.
