Ultimate Source Battery Charger

Hi All
Does anybody have any experience of the ultimate source trickle charger? I bought one off Ebay a few weeks ago but don't know if it's working. My bike has been plugged in for a week but the battery is flat, it was flat before I started using the charger. Would I be right in thinking that these chargers can only maintain the charge in a charged battery ?

You may be right. Or:

The battery may be "deep discharged" or sulphated. Sometimes a specialist charger like an Optimate can recover this.

The charger may be defective: have you tested the output? If you don't have a multimeter then bodge up a test device using a 12V tail-light bulb. There's probably a fuse in the male connector.

Your user profile says you have a 1100GS so your accessory socket should be permantly live unless the inline fuse has blown (if you've upgraded to a 1200 then the socket is switched off by the ECU and this type of charger will not work).

Check that the battery connections and earth straps are secure.

Personally, I use an Optimate and have connected the supplied lead directly to the battery on my 1150.
