Ultraseal

just follow the instructions and youll be fine :thumb2

dont be tempted to put the last bit in the bottle into your tyres to much and youll shake your fillings out:eek:

Nine bikes in morocco. Only one bike with ultra seal in the tyres.

Guess which bike was the only one to have a puncture. Oh how we laughed.
Ultra seal = sperm of the devil.

And do you know it's no problem riding for 10 miles with a flat tyre, at speeds of up to 70mph, fully loaded. :D

How the feck anyone gets stranded with a puncture i'll never know.

I've used it in all my touring wheels and it def extends tyre life, think this is due to the cooling effect it has by constantly having liquid flowing around the inside of the tyre. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but it also inproves stability by adding to the spun weight of the wheel therefore increasing ''centrefrugal'' forces, the thing keeping you upright in the first place.
Having said that, its probably all bollocks, but it does give you peace of mind that your tyre isnt going to blow out so worth 20 quid for that alone i recon.

But thats just me & any one who likes ultraseal its fine
Me i like the small pump & plug kit i use, no cost till needed & can use on other bikes if you are in a group of friends (dont like leaving mates stranded)
I have had 2 tyres go down in 7 years, how many tyres would i have put ultraseal in in that time
against 1/ Warm tyres grip better + cost added to each tyre

against 2/ increasing unsprung weight, working suspension harder

Against 3/ no additive will stop a blow out (large hole in tyre) i like to know i have had a nail etc in the tyre & inspect + plug if not to bad

Use which ever you are happy, just my thoughts:thumb

I have had 2 punctures in the past 2 years, thats 5 rears and 3 fronts, both would have been fixed with ultraseal, that would be 4 bottles @ £20, 2 plugs used, 8 left on a £16 kit, no mess at tyre change time (I change my own), its safer as a plug is glued, the ulraseal relys on the stuff blocking the hole like a drain :augie

I use ultra seal in landy's and trailers but not on bikes.
I just use the tip top stuff thats included in the bm toolkit.
It's a piece of pee to use and when I have had to use it it's been good for the life of the tire. like the RAC carry from my local motorfactors, cost about £30 and will last for years.
Have a look HERE

For a small Co2 inflator check out THIS
Most bike shops sell them, I've got one in both my moto and peddley bike toolkits:thumb2

in answer.
1 warm tyres grip, hot tyres blister and wear out.

2 unspun weight increase on 0.4 of a kilo on a touring bike weighing 400kg loaded up, I dont think the suspention will notice.

and point 3, we used it in 4 tonne armoured landcruisers in kosovo and belive me when your tyres get shot through they dont blow out as the ultraseal seals the rappid deflation.

but I agree if you do get hit in the tyres by any ordanance larger than 7.62 fired from an AK47. I really cant vouch for it....

but hey only my oppinion.

It was going well untill Point 3, that bit has a horrible smell of BS :augie

Contradictory, moi !!

Reminds me of one of those wind-up toy swimmers kids have in the bath. Lots of splashing and noise as it thrashes around aimlessly :D

Definately saved me and my sons life one day. Cruising at 90 mph and the back wheel started to deflate slowly. It gave me enough time to pull over safely where I discoverd a fairly large slash that was too big for ultraseal to plug completely but did seal it enough to reduce the speed of deflation.
Also, just changed my tyres yesterday. Noticed two small tacks or nails had gone right through the rear tyre but had been plugged by the ultraseal. Every bike I have or will ever have will have it in the tyres.

enough said

I think that say's it all mate, I also think it is worth the 20 quid.
I've never needed it on the bike but feel better knowing its in.

peace of mind is a wonderfull thing.

(oh and i ran CPU teams for the UN in the Balkans until 18 months ago if anyone wants to play top trumps) moderate that!

A big thanks for the great advice and banter... and it's an equal 50:50 between Ultraseal/Slime and a puncture repair kit!!!

so.... here is the result....... and Steptoe swung it with the "sperm of the devil" comment... i'm going to buy a Puncture repair kit...

I'll post again early august to tell the ultraseal fans of the time spent fixing a puncture by the road in the rain...

happy days!
