Uneven wear on rear brake pads

Interesting to read this now, 5 years down the line. My 2010 GS has just had its 48k service and I am on the original front disc and pads (pads need changing in about another 1000 or so). Rear pads have been replaced at 21k, 34k and now nearing a new set at 48k. Amazing how they have averaged out...and on the second rear disk too. First replaced at 21k and now probably (need to measure it still but a small lip is evident. Guessing it'll be beneath BM spec, but safe enough).

My BMW OEM organic rear pads lasted less than 4000 miles and fecked the disc because I had no idea they could wear so fast. I paid £21 for road spec EBC pads from a local bike shop, so even at 25K per rear disc, the sinters are a lot less money than the organics. I would expect to get 15K from the sinters and use at least three sets of pads per disc.

My previous bike would use a set of organic front pads in 6000 miles which fitted the service interval. I fitted sinters that lasted best part of 20K so got replaced every third service. The discs just went on and on. They were changed only because I bent one when I forgot to remove the disc lock. The rear brake hardly got any use so sinters could fall apart before they were used up.
