Hi there.... was just packing for the long weekend to find that my left fork oil was not where it should be - i.e. on the ground, not the forks. It seems that my seal is stuffed. :tears

Does anyone know of a decent, reliable mechanic in the Southwark/Lewisham area or near enough? Currently we've got a mechanic up in Dalston but it's a bit far and maybe there's someone else out there who is recommended....

Need to have it looked at within the next or so, but for now I guess I will have to be on the back for this trip

ciao... (big unhappy sigh....) k

sorry hear about that, if you are, or know anyone half emch minded the seals are easy and quick job to do and there will be step by step guide on f650.com faq

steptoe of this forum is only 3/4 hour max away from the Southwark/Lewisham area.

His website is http://www.gsshop.biz/

A fair ammount of people on this forum use his services and he's highly reccomended. i think He'll be able to sort you out :thumb2 He's much closer than dalston at any rate :D

Shame your not closer to me, i have a set of dakar forks that you could have borrowed for the weekend :blast

Steptoe is THE man :clap:clap:clap:clap

All round bike fixing guru and good guy :thumb

Thanks for your recommendations!

Cheers for that guys... weirdly enough as I was waiting for my better half to pay for petrol on our way out to the Cotswolds, I got talking to a BMW rider who'd only just 3 or so days prior got his seals done at Jap and German in Bermondsy..... Have you heard of them and are they any good? They seem pretty convenient but will definitely check out your dude's website too... I always get nervous with trying new mechanics - have been bent over the counter (so to speak) before and just don't want to go there again... Does sound like you guys are pretty happy with steptoe so that makes me feel happy...

Ciao, K

I don' tthink Steptoe would bend you over the counter.

a fair payment for a good job done tho

:jes

forks not done yet

Just waiting to see if anyone knows of Jap and German as they are literally 10mins from where I live.... Looks like steptoe is out near Richmond which is a serious pain in the arse for me to juggle getting there and attempting to get to work too....

i will eb honest, for fork seals a half decent mechanic will do them quick enough, i would more worry about who is cheapest.
