I've found that wearing bulking clothing at this time of the year to stay warm is annoying, and then I was bought a Uniqlo Heattech long sleeved t-shirt from one of their many shops. The material is dead thin and really keeps me warm in fact sometimes, say in a pub, I get too hot. I've since bought a pair of Long Johns just for wearing on the bike. Very comfortable and I'll wear the t-shirt each day throughout the winter. My nearest Uniqlo shop is at Bluewater.
