I'm a total newbe to GPS and going to pick up a S/H Street pilot III on Sunday.

I was wondering if someone could just fill me in on the unlock codes.

i.e. what are they ?
what do i do with them ?
how do i know they are there (the seller says they are)
i believe there should be two sets if so why ?

And lastly anything else i should be aware of when viewing it ?

Its got City Navigator version 5 how good is this ?

Regards Fitz

The unlock code is a security feature of the s/w. Provided you are buying a complete package, it should come with one.
As part of the install process you are prompted to enter the code supplied with the s/w. The unlock codes are supplied on a card, mine is on a square yellow card and consists of 5 batches of 5 characters. Make sure that the unit serial number on the card matches that of the GPS. When you install the s/w it needs to go on line to register the s/w (on v6 install certainly). You might hit a problem where it says that the unlock code has already been used and it will ask you for a customer no, this is normally provided when you register the s/w for the first time. If you get this number with the unlock code then you should not have a problem.
Can't comment comment on V5 as I've only ever used 6.

Andrew.
