unlocking when second hand???

ok so dont know if this has been covered or not.if it has then sorry for the bother.

i just got a quest off a very nice man but i need to install version 9

when on the garmin site it asks for the master coupon code which i put in but it then tells me this belongs to someone else(previous owner)and i can go no further.
what should i do???

Give 'em a ring. It's bloody hard to actually get hold of anyone, but when you do they're usually very helpful

Get the very nice man you got it from update Garmin's records with a change of owner, the locking out bit is a security measure in case a not so nice man would sell you a stolen unit.

When I sold my SPIII, I was asked to forward an e-mail to Garmin to confirm that I had sold it to the new owner.
