2610 storage cards

Hello Norrie,

I have a BMW Nav II which is based on the 2610 and I use a 2gb card which takes nearly all 2009 Mapsource. I actually use 2 x 2gb cards and load the second one with similar maps but adding those I could'nt get on the first card and leaving off some others. I tend to split the maps in North and South Europe (and UK).

I was led to believe that the 2610 can use up to 2gb cards but have also heard that some people have used highercapacity cards.

Personally I find the 2gb card fine and it does on all these units take 2-3 hours to load all the maps.

As you likely know when you open Mapsource and start clicking the maps they appear in the box to the left and at the bottom of this box is the capacity you are using in gbs.

Hope that's helpful.

Mike

Thank's Mike

I had thought of using two card's and put Eastern euorope on the second one

Thank's again :thumb2

I have bought a 4gb memory card as all maps are @2.6gb. But when I try to send them to the unit it says there are only 2040mb available. I have been back and exchanged the card as the first one said the same. Any ideas as to what the issue might be?

I played with the idea of UK & Ireland on one card and Europe on another, but I till need @ 2.4gb for the Europe mapping.

the card may need formatted from fat32 till NTFS to handle bigger than 2gig files
