Updating a Carpuride W702 - (702 ONLY) - Upload / Download and help notes etc - CHECK YOUR VERSION FIRST!!!!

It’s taken the new firmware, I used a 16gb card and it worked fine. It’s updated but the screen is still the same.

I’ve reached out to capuride so will see what they say..

It seems these units will always allow a firmware over write even if it’s the wrong version. If you didn’t get the firmware from carpurude, and the screen comes on then immediately goes dark after power on then I would be certain it’s a wrong version as this is what happens. There are many different versions even for the 702. Some may be country specific etc.

Get the correct version and it will install fine and your screen will come on bright again.

Thanks, this is mine after update. So mcu didn’t change but cust went to 1.22. With the capuride update..

Capuride have sent me instructions to open up the unit and check that the screen ribbon is secured correctly. Will eat that checked tomorrow

I gather the update fixed your black screen?

I see that the customer versions between yours and mine are different M702D vs M702 and its this sort of difference that I think results in incompatibility and the "Black screen of death".

I also was directed to check the ribbon cables but they were fine. It was just corrupted firmware. They need to get on with it and implement automatic online updates which check for correct version compatibility. I think the majority (not all) of online cases of black screen are caused by users downloading a Firmware file that says 702 and its not compatible. Hope others who are tempted to do this do their homework first and read these warnings.

Hi,

I’ve never had a black screen, mine has always worked. I just don’t have the touchscreen in the centre working.

I’m in contact to see what they say, I checked the ribbon cable inside and it’s all good. I disconnected and reconnected both ends just to be sure.

Same fault as I first had, outer edge touchscreen works but centre does not.

Video to show issue, hasn’t altered with and firmware changes.

Hi,

I'm not a GS user, but my K1600 has also a Carpuride W702.
I updated to the new firmware and everything went well.

SDK Version 22.0.11.0.0.0.1.2
CUST Version LT-M702D-S9-V1.22
MCU Version LT-702S2-921-V1.11
BTTR Version SO40-23.08.15.11

I have tryed to change the welcome logo as I always did with the other versions, but although the normal message to update appears, the logo is not updated and when it starts now, instead of showing my logo, it just shows a black screen.
After the black screen, Carpuride starts normally.
I have tryed with other logo files but without success. Resolution = 1024x600 px.

Have you guys tried to change your welcome logo?

In that case, Carpuride offer a free service to generate one for you, so long as the image is the correct size. They should be able to get it right ;)

Well the guys at capuride have said it’s a screen fault and are sending out a free screen for me to change. Great service as the unit is over a year old so very happy with how well they’ve gone about this. Very helpful..👍
 
Hi! Due to an interrupted update, my 702BS device is not working properly.
Can anyone help by sending an ISBOOOT.BIN file?

this entire thread is non bs version (702). i would contact carpuride for the correct file. they usually respnd within the day.
 
Absolutely DO NOT use someone else’s firmware file. There are so many variants of firmware for the W702 and the file name does not tell you anything. Contact carpuride and they will send a link to correct file based on your serial number. I learnt this the hard way after trying several different firmware files on this site and they all caused screen to go dark after initial boot screen came on.
