A friend has offered me his European v7 to upgrade my SP111. He has given me the disc and all his security/log in details. He has loaded it for himself already.
I am under the impression this isn't possible as it has already been registered once...am I correct?

The only way you can do this is to register your unit in your friends name. Garmin allow you to register 2 units to one version of Navigator.

Interesting Dennis! I have already registered mine when I bought it though, so I suppose that would only work if I had a new unregistered one?

You could 'sell' it to your mate, register him with Garmin as the new owner, let him load up the new Version & and then he could let you use it ;)

Seems a bit complicated - I think I'll just pay the $150!

Charles

This might help. When I was getting worryingly close to my trip and V7 hadn't arrived I e-mailed Garmin. The reply said
.... If you know a friend that has a copy, you can use their update cd to load to your PC. All you have to do then is go to our website to get a 25 digit unlock code.
As it happened, my update CD arrived within days.
