Looking for a bit of help please! I'm trying to upload maps & routes for an upcoming trip to France to my SP111 (bought from Ebay & first time I've used it). Although all the selected maps have loaded to the card, none of the planned routes have loaded. I've searched a few posts on here & from what I understand, routes can only be uploaded via a serial cable, NOT via the card programmer. Problem is, I haven't got a serial cable as there wasn't one with the unit. Even if I had a serial cable, I have no idea where it would plug into the unit as there doesn't seem to be a port for it. When I transfer using the data card, it does give me "routes" & "waypoints" as options in the checkboxes for what I wish to transfer (as well as "maps") but no joy.
Am I doing something wrong & can anyone advise me please? Thanks!

So, you know you cant upload routes and waypoints using the card programmer - you WILL need the serial cable connection. On one end is a serial plug for the PC and on the other a round head same as the one that plugs into the top of the SPIII. You can get one with a serial end and a power plug on a 'y' piece too - saves on batteries.

If your PC does not have a serial cable (most laptops dont these days) - you can get a USB converter from Maplins or on the web (search on 'Serial to USB' and you'll get a few hits).

This GPS is around 3 generations old now - and unfortunately there is little support available. You might need to search hard for cables etc - so the web's the best place.

Best of Luck.

Cheers for the quick reply.
I thought that was the problem! I'll have to keep an eye on Ebay and the forum For Sale ads & see if I can come across a cheap suitable cable.
As you say, it's an old unit now so someone's bound to be having a clearout!
