Tried this for first time last night and after about 20 mins error message stated incorrect file format. It is an avi file, any advice please peeps?

I did that too, bloody frustrating sitting there through the download process just to be informed it's the wrong format. You'd think it might detect the wrong format earlier!
Anyway, MPEG2 is what you want to use (at least that's what I've found works).
