For those who want to break up a few hard days riding with some real luxury ... I can recommend some assorted Riads in Morocco.
In Fes, the best place in town is the Riad Fes. Its just north of 100 quid a night for a room, but for the awesome authentic Riad in the heart of the medina that it is, its a bargain, and would cost twice that if it were in Marrakech. There is no bike parking at the Riad, but there is guarded parking that the riad recommends (and it worked for me) close by ... marked on their website (www.riadfes.com). I highly recommend the semi private dining room directly under the main arch at the end of the pool in the first foto.
In Marrakech, I can recommend a number of the Riads run by Angsana (a division of Banyan Tree luxury resorts). (http://www.angsana.com/en/marrakech/index.html). They are all in the medina, within a 100 yards of each other, and about 3 minutes walk from Djemaa El Fna, the main square and centre of Marrakesh. If you are in Marrakech a few days, spend a night in several, to get a more comprehensive feel for the different styles of Riads. In particular I can recommend Riad Bab Firdaus, Riad Dar Si Said, Riad Aida and Riad Tiwaline. Very popular as well is their Riad Blanc, but despite it being one of the groups flagship fotos, I was not as impressed with it as I was with the others mentioned. The Angsana staff enthusiastically helped me park the big GSA within the Riad Dar Si Said, deep within the medina.
The Angsana Riads themselves are probably not as dramatic, luxurious and exquisite as Riad Fes, but the service at the Angsana Riads is very good. Being Marrakech they are also pricier, at more like £150 a night.
