US Spec Zumo ...

Hi,

I'm on business in the US and the Zumo 550 is on sale in Walmart for $356 . With the current exchange rate of $2 to the pound I'm giving it serious consideration. However the catch is that I would need to get hold of the European mapping for the unit.

Does anyone know of any discounted outlets for this, the cheapest I have seen is 250 GBP which would not make the purchase worthwhile.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Whatever you do. You HAVE to buy EU maps in the USA. EU maps are [generaly speaking] not for sale in the EU!

Ah... and never buy it on the SD version either. Buy the DVD (and at some point you want the whole EU and not just UK etc) . Otherwise you can not plan routes (in the EU) and your mapsource is worthless..

Buy a Mk 1 Quest for approx £100 that has a spare unlock code

Quest uses non-NT maps. Zumo uses NT maps.
NT = New Technology = not same as Quest.
So you#ll get an extra unlock code, but for a product that's not compatible.

Where on EARTH are you finding a Zumo 550 for less than $500?!?! You sure it's a 550 and not a 450? Are you talking USD or GBP? I'm just extremely !! curious, because no searching I've done nor anyone I know has been able to find one for less than about $550.

With a price that low, I'd be thinking it's Greymarket.
