USA next year ??

Am looking to go the US next year for a month, but cant decide if i want to hire when I get there, get my own gs over there(plane/ship) or buy/sell when im there.
Ive been quoted just under £600 to get bike there, and about the same for return, by ship.Im presuming air will be a lot more.Looking at hire prices, 1 site quotes $4000 for a month for a gs (Well, i might as well take my own for that price!!).
I have found a bit of info on this site re prices etc etc but none really recent.
Any ideas at all anyone ???

By sea from Southampton to Port Newark - about ten days - about £540 single.

By air from Gatwick to Vancouver (far cheaper to take cargo into and out of Canada rather than US) - you fly with the bike - £1700 return.

I did this in 2002 but the bike went by sea this time.

Rent or take your own. Well four weeks is about the break even point. I take it the insurance is included in that price? My US insurance was about £150 for three months, about the same I pay for cover for a year here.
