Using banners on posts

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to place a banner (static powerpoint image) at the bottom of my posts?

I see that some GSers have animations or graphics in place so it can be done.

Is is necessary to have a host website and is this how you specify the location in the 'My Profile' section? If yes, are there any free host sites that could be recommended?

if it's just an image it has to be hosted on something like photobucket or any picture hoasting site

what format/extension is the image in? gif jpeg bmp?
