V Strom DL1050....

So there are new '22 model 1050 XTs for £9,995 - you can't buy a 1250GS used for that money - what should
I know before taking the plunge ?
SERVICE ACTIVATED WARRANTY

After your 3-year standard warranty ends, we’ll give you a new Service Activated Warranty that covers you through to your next service every time you have a qualifying service with us – until your bike is 7-years old or you reach 70,000 miles.

But you probably won't need it :)

Nothing really. As I have previously said, the rear shock is soft, but might suit you. The spokes will corrode (I have the basic with cast wheels - much better). The electronics package is impressive and now come with seven years warranty so long as you keep it serviced at Suzuki (but they don't go wrong anyway).

does the 2020 XT come with tubed or tubeless tyres?

If it has the 19”/17” wheels, then yes, it is tubeless, it is the 21” front that needs a tube although there are companies out there who can make it tubeless.

Just ordered a V-strom 1050 road version in black. Had an hours test ride and was quite impressed.

Great bikes, hugely under rated and exceptional vfm in the current market. Love my 650, and have that back on the road for the forthcoming wet period as it doesn't mind getting filthied up. Easy to clean, starts first touch of the button every single time, is comfortable and pleasant to ride. If someone gave me money for a new GS, I'd spend it instead on a new VStrom and use the change to buy a used CCM Spitfire instead.

Vstrom 650 are great bikes but I wouldn’t touch a CCM Spitfire.
Bloody awful things with poor reliability and bad after sales back up .

That seems at odds with this article from MCN although I would never buy anything on the strength of an article. Owner's clubs are a good place to start.

Actual previous owners are an even better place . Two mates had awful issues . One even took them to court when they couldn’t fix his bike and wouldn’t replace it . It was an oil leak .He lives in Spain . They flew a mechanic out and he was unable you fix . Bike shipped back to UK . They had it nine months before he won his court case and got a refund .
Another had electrical issues and got rid .
Know a third guy who also had major issues before rejecting bike .

Got this on Tuesday and I must say it is a more solid, planted feeling bike on the road than either my GS’s or my KTM 1290. Yes it’s very much down on power but it’s not slow. So 182 miles in, I like it.

Just listed a Brand new 1050 Vstrom screen in the FS&W section, always handy to have a spare especially at half price
