Have just contacted Garmin Europe in the Uk to blag a set of V7 discs....response ?

Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe. Please contact BMW as their upgrade process is different to that for Garmin units.

Surely this is cobblers - I only want a set of b****y discs ! Can't believe that there is a 'BMW Specific' v7.....any views ??

You have a BMW unit. My 2610 is a Garmin unit.

Would you be happy if I could fit my 2610 into the mount with the extra buttons? Sorry, but you paid the extra for the item from BMW, and the mere fact that it uses the same mapping software as a Garmin unit is purely co-incedental.

On a more helpful front - It may be because of the changes in V7 that the dealers data dase is having to be ammended. I know this because a lot of mine have "moved" ie not on the road they used to be.

With the Navigator II BMW put conditions on Garmin about upgrades/service etc.
Garmin are simply telling you what BMW want them to tell you under their contract.

I agree that there does not seem any reason why the Garmin v7 upgrade CDs would not work on a Navigator II

I have the BMW NavII unit.......

I simply filled in the 'apply for V7 update' e-mail on the Garmin website & the Update discs arrived yesterday.

http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsource/update/cd_update_details.asp?CD=011-00817-05

I then loaded the discs, followed the unlock process and got the unlock code FOC ('cos the unit was only just registered) and voila fully functioning V7.....

When you go through the unlock process the Garmin website recognises the unit as the BMW version rather than the 2610.......still lets you unlock the maps.....

Dutch,
did you request the discs via the link
mailto:[email protected] ??

Thats what I already did, but obviously made the mistake of giving them deta9ls of my unit etc....

I followed the link & simply gave the information they asked for:

Name
Address
Telephone number

No more, no less........

.....after 4 years of Nav I & NavII ownership, I'm beginning to get the hang of this......I think........maybe........sort of.........

Cheers

I did the same as Dutch.

Just send an e-mail asking for the V7. They send them because they are free.
