Anyone had the 6K service recently, what was the cost?
Got a 200 miles round trip to the dealers and engine needs to be cold for this one (valve clearances) so will head down for closing time, leave the bike, and B&B overnight, sort of make a mini trip out of it with a more scenic route back up north next afternoon 😉

I had a valve clearance check done at the initial service @ approx 900 miles, that cost £204. I haven't had the 6K service as I'm only at 3,800 miles. A+D just did a 12 month annual service (3,200 miles) without the valve clearances. It cost £139. However I later had a pinking issue and they reset the valve clearances and did other bits to sort the problem. It was done under warranty and they loaned me a 450 Himalaya to go home on, I live about 60 miles away with no direct public transport to Denbigh.
I can certainly recommend A+D motorcycles for customer service although that's no use to you being up in Scotland.

I'm just over 5k miles but don't want to get an annual service only to return in a month or so for 6k service....so get that done a little early. Although, I know the dreaded spanner will appear and so far only dealer can reset it, but they are a very good dealer and will do that anytime I'm in that area so will just ignore it (MG need to sort that out somehow)

Got shafted on my first service from supplying dealer in Burton on my late 2020 bike. I went elsewhere for 6k service, done slightly early in October last year but, according to Guzzi schedule it was a bit too thorough. Not just engine oil & filter, valves checked etc etc but for some reason the gearbox & bevel oils changed and spark plugs replaced - none of which is due until 18k miles or later this year, whichever comes first.
Total cost was £335 but subtract the overkill stuff (spark plugs at £32 EACH!) total should be around £250ish.
Suggested labour time from Guzzi is 100 minutes. It'll take me longer, but I'm doing my own servicing from now on...

Once mine has had the 6k service (I'm anticipating March/April 2025) I'll be doing it myself. I did the final drive and gearbox oil change at around 1000 miles, it doesn't sit easy with me having oil in for the first 18,000 miles which Guzzi stipulate, in future they'll be done every 12k miles. It's just a pain in the arse that the service indicator spanner light can only be switched off by a dealer. Don't know why MG did that, as I could turn the service light off on both my old Stelvios.

Engine, gearbox & final drive oil about £60 with a bit of oil spare if needed between services. Filter, o ring and crush washers about £20. A couple of hours of my own time in the garage to drain, change all oils and do a valve check.

So a service cost is £80 to know it has been done properly.

I intend on doing all this when the warranty is up as I've done with all my bikes 👍

I enjoy DIY maintenance, besides saving a lot of money you get to know more about your vehicle and 'bond' with it. The only time any of my vehicles see a dealer/professional workshop is while under warranty and for MOTs. On that rare occasion were a job may be more complicated, perhaps requiring the use of diagnostics, or I'm in a can't be arsed mood I'll use a professional. Unfortunately my very good local independent bike shop is unable to turn off the V85tt service light, but he has diagnostics for most other brands.

Exactly the same Al. I serviced my Interceptor twice in the lockdown era, running in and 1st service with dealer permission. Service kit and oil from Hitchcock's, printed off check lists, took a few pics of valve clearances (only inlet need adjustment) took them with receipts to dealers and they stamped the book, so stayed in warranty. The MG service spanner is a PITA, managed to reset on all my bikes in the past. Sometimes with buttons & key position procedures and sometimes with OBD2 and phone software like TuneECU for Triumphs and MotoScan for BMW'S. 👍👍

Paid about £250 for my 6k service……cold engine for clearances is the pain when the dealerships are relatively scarce. Like you mention it becomes a two day job.

support from Piaggio ...don't make me laugh !

punters usage is gradually going down as they all get older , work from home , and don't use their bikes every day .

i work from a lockup , but even i heard about the Piaggio dealer in Leeds going to the wall . ( Dyrons)

I thought Dyrons retired as they had done it for 40 years and shut up and had an auction of goods last week
No mention of your allegations ‘going to the wall’
Some dealer businesses just terminate the franchise agreement on their side - retirement or ill health etc

going to the wall , covers everything .
it's still a dealer closing , the truth comes out eventually , so retirement it is .
the grapevine works , with spelling errors !
