Yes folks the laptop has had some red wine all is fine except the fecking keys don't work ideas piss takes etc bring it on some help would be good though

If it still powers up get a keyboard off eBay - they are cheapish and easy enough to fit.

Edit - very cheap in fact and Youtube has some guides to fitting them as well.

I did that with laptop last year Aidan took the battery out and left it sitting in front of the radiator for 24 hours. No bother worked a treat after that

I have trashed a couple of laptop keyboards with red wine and coffee, you will be very lucky to get away with drying it out but it is well worth a try.

Drying it off is no good without rinsing it first.
If you live in a hard water area, use distilled water.

Had a similar problem lat year (Rose) I removed the battery and opened the laptop over the sink on its side (like a book) then rinsed the keyboard through using half a pint of IPA (isopropyl alcohol, not india pale ale) a couple of days in the airing cupboard and we were good to go.

Just an update and thanks to Stewart and Angus I washed the thing out as described with alcohol and then distilled water after removing the hard drive it works fine now
although it does take some bottle to sit a grands worth of lappy on the draining board

Seems like a recommendation to drink IPA in case of spills on the keyboard.

bollocks to all that drink the alcy thow the laptop in the bin and buy a new one man of means like yourself can afford it
