Vario adapter plate

Hi All, just a quick question, not got time to check the threads.

My Mate is trading in his bmw and has offered me his vario adapter plate ( no top box though).

Can anyone tell me can it be used on any bmw top boxes or just the vario and do bmw still sell them new ?

it would be better if you gave more info. Like what year is the bike with the plate on, as there were gliches with the early ones and mods done I think for 05.

Yes Vario's can be got new from BMW, but there normally a few arround cheaper here or on fleebay.

Can't tell you about other BMW boxes, but I suspect the answer is no, as generally each mounting system is specific to its own range.

The adaptor plate will only suit vario topbox. The adaptor plate was also modified sometime early in 2007 or thereabouts to suit the modified topbox, so if the adaptor plate was originally purchased before say end of '06, I suspect it will only suit the earlier versions of the vario, which fell off regularly. No problems with the topboxes purchased after say 2006.
