When I took my bike in for a service last year, the guys at William's Manchester apparently "found" that one of the mounting lugs on my off side pannier was broken... Funny that I'm pretty bloody sure that it wasn't broke before I took it for the service!... Anyway, I'll try to upload a photo of it but it's the one at the bottom front of the pannier that slides onto the footrest hanger, and it looks like it is replaceable due to having 3 bolts holding it in place..

Does anyone know if I can simply buy a new one? I should have asked at the time but didn't think to.

Many thanks.

Why leave panniers on when bike goes in for a service..... its just something to get in the way and add time/cost to the service.

realOEM.com maybe your friend here to see if that part is available separately...... or ask tab the dealers/breakers to see if any damaged panniers come in that are not damaged in this particular part.....

Good luck

Cheers Bubb.. I left them on because I was using them, went for the service straight from work and I need my panniers for work; it's only a 20 second job to take them off.

The now-broken mount would stick out proud beyond a line between the high points at NW and SE from it. Well, it does on my Varios. The high point at NW is very scuffed and worn. That point on my exhaust-side Vario is completely unmarked. What caused that damage to yours?

If the break was dirty and grubby, done for a while, if it's clean compared to rest of plastic done recently.

Is that the part? Fantastic find if it is!

This looks like the same part number and in euros with worldwide shipping

Before you order ring your local BMW dealer and give them the part number they can usually just order it for you, even car dealers can get bike bits with the part numbers and only take a couple of days to arrive.

Too late, I (accidentally, with PayPal one click buy!) ordered it last night from a German site, hopefully it's the correct part, it's hard to tell off the drawings.

I'm suprised this part hasn't broke on quite a few bikes, especially you folks who do a bit of off road riding: I imagine mine was broken by a ham fisted apprentice mechanic dropping my pannier on the floor or similar... When I was told about the damage I challenged the guy at Williams by asking if it was accidentally done in the workshop, to which he replied something along the line of 'we don't do things like that here'..

Many thanks for you lot pointing me in the right direction, much appreciated.

Just a quick note to say the part arrived quickly enough and it's the correct part! Cheers again you marvellous bunch! 😁
