What is happening at the moment regards Vario Top Boxes, and the prices they are second hand!!!!:mcgun

The GS is booked into Balderstones(:bow) for a service at the start of July, I have nothing but praise for them(:beerjug:) and recommended them to a mate (:oonyack)who has subsequently bought a bike from them. Whilst we were there, I asked the luvly young lady(:rose) in the service/parts department to price me up a NEW Vario Top Box, a NEW fitting kit complete, a NEW lock, coded to the bike, and a NEW fitting kit to mount the box where the pillion seat goes. Total price just shy of £300 including the dreaded vodka and tonic.:clap

My question therefore, is why are people paying £250+ for a used one on ebay, and then £20 worth of postage, and they havent even got the conversion parts for the pillion seat. You also dont get any warranty either.:rob

I guess...because some people are idiots and don't know the true price of what they are bidding on! I've been selling some stuff on there recently (got £200 for a Canon G7 camera...£260 new on Amazon:confused:) and never cease to be amazed what people will pay.

Hi,
That sounds great price. I've been quoted £420 inc fitting by Cannons in Braintree.
What other prices have people been quoted?
Cheers,
Henry

I am the:oonyack that bought the bike, maybe your good price was because of your:guitarist tunes to the young lady in question, made me feel:eek:. I think it will all end in:tears,so stick to the  old:rob. :thumb

£300 mark is a good price for top box. Southport superbikes quoted me the same for one a few weks back too

My friend has just sold a pair of Vario Panniers for the 200 and he only got £210 for the set on EBay so there are bargains out there. He is also selling a Tourgaurd suit and it only went to £110 for trous and Jacket (Around £800 new and they were only worn twice). I know some folk pay over the odds but there are bargains out there too:rob

If you are getting a new topbox from a main dealer for only £300 you are doing very well, I was quoted over £400 including all the fittings.

However I agree that it is amazing what people will pay on Ebay,, in some cases nearly new price or more!
