Vario topbox - backrest

the topbox has just given up on me...a huge crack down the plastic around the latch, an recognised fault I believe. however, I have the back rest fitted to it and would like to re-use on the new one, rather than forking out another 50 groats for another one. can it be taken off and fitted to another box?

Yes.

I can't find my instructions, there is a certain amount of dismantling of the box involved but the pieces are only screwed on IIRC

The backrest transfers from the old box to the new. The lower part of the backrest is fitted with two screws accesable when you turn the box upside down. The upper part appears to be held on by one screw through the lid (accessed from inside the box).
