Hi chaps me again, different problem ,I am trying to create a vcd photo album to play on a dvd player .I managed this once with a programme called On CD . I have since tried this and the dvd player doesn't recognise the disc any ideas?

I made some VCDs of a recent bike trip and distributed them to the 7 blokes who went on the trip.
Only two managed to get their DVD players to show them.
I think the newer the player the more chance it will have the software to play VCD. Seems odd to me as VCD is an old format.

Many of the slightly older DVD players dol't like the lighter dye CD's and will only successfully play ones with the blue writing surface.

Some players don't support VCD at all - it's as simple as that.

This site has everything you need to know. Search the compatibility matrix for your friend's DVD player. Lookup definitions of the various terms such as VCD, SVCD.

Thanks for the advice ,what I can't understand is the successful vcd I made was on a cheap PC World cdr,so maybe I have lost something in the programme . Wil try re installing with everything crossed!. PS thats a very good site thanks for that.

I have been writing VCD's and DVD-R's for just about 18mths and it can be a nightmare, as has been said it's down to the player and age/cost doesn't seem to have any bearing on whether they will work.

I have a very expensive Panasonic DVD player that will not play VCD's at all and only some DVD-R's and I have a much cheaper Sony DVD player that can play anything.

I know that TESCO do a £49.99 DVD player that will play almost anything, certainly I haven't found anything it can't play yet.

If you need any alternative writing software contact me directly.
