Off to Morocco in eary April until 8th May with the wife. My wife is a strict vegetarian and I suspect that other than breakfast we will struggle to find her a reasonably balanced diet. What experience have others had in this respect?

On the basis that we will struggle food wise I'm considering taking a stove to cook something up for dinner, maybe every day. I do not own a stove and would appreciate any views on what type of fuel would be needed. Can I take a stove that takes gas cannisters or will I need to use something like petrol on the basis that gas cannisters are not available?

Thanks
Steve

No problem, veggie tajines, cous cous, omelettes etc.
Use a petrol stove.

From what I remember lunch is normally "berber omlettes" which don't have any meat in, there are LOADS of fresh salads and the like all the time. I'm not sure about evenings but I don't think you'll have too much problem, maybe just a little bit limited. They don't slaughter a lamb for every meal. ;)

Aren't omelettes made from baby chickens? Not sure a strict vegetarian can ever have a balanced diet :nenau

Most North Africans eat mainly vegetarian food. It's the tourists who demand lamb and chips. With Irn Bru. Or Budweiser.

I have visited Morocco more than a dozen times and have never had a problem - the worst you may have to resort to is a loaf of bread and a pack of Dairylee, but Veggie Tageine is a standard dish as are the ubiquitous Berber omelettes ....

Unless you are wild camping, I really wouldnt bother with a stove ..

The wife is/was veggie when we last visited. Veggie Tajine and Cous Cous all the way. With a healthy dose of salads.

Does get boring after a couple of weeks though!!

We will be in Morocco from Late March until first weekend in May!
