I've just done a five day loop thru France/Italy/Switzerland, altho based in the Vercors area ... my advice to all GS riders is to get down there ASAP ...

This is the D518 thru the Gr ds Goulets ....

But then again ...

... how about the D518 to Die over Col de Rosset? View from the top after scraping everything around ridiculous hairpin bends

Into Switzerland ...

... via the Col du-Grand-St Bernard. Apparently this was the first day that it hasn't rained for 21 days, so I was very lucky ...

Photos can't do this justice really. 35mm SLR images to follow.

For info ...

... the Tour de France is travelling thru Vercors on Monday 20th July. If you want a decent preview of the area the TV footage will come in handy.

France and the Alps are ace. The best roads Europe has to offer, great weather, scenery beer and cheap fags...errr if you smoke. But don't go telling everyone, they'll all be over here next. Some people have to live over here you know....bloody tourists!

Tell me about it! I live 15mins from Cap d'Agde, seems like half of France are here just now!

Very much enjoyed the pics retroman .Often head for the alps myself any chance of putting your route up autoroute would be good or a few place names. Did you camp or hotel it.
Cant get the wife to camp abroad but may bugger off on me own one of these days .

:beerjug: Ian

Cheers Ian

I went in thru Cherbourg then made my way to le Puy via Limoge. To tour Vercours you can't do better than this place:

http://home.wanadoo.nl/rliewes/framee.htm

Its a biker only campsite with a free beer on arrival for first timers, the guy who runs the place has maps of the area with suggested tours.

I did a big loop thru Grenoble and up thru the Italian Alps, thru Switzerland then a mad overniht dash to LeHavre via the Paris ring road, which was great fun at 3am!

2000 miles in 5 days, a bit much really.

The photos bring great memories of my alps trip last summer ( france italy and ainly switzerland)
Want to go back!!!
