Anyone able to tell me which of these footrest lowering options offer the best comfort for long distance road work. Have searched all the threads and both seem to have good write-ups. The Verholen lowering kit seems to offer a bit more room whilst the fastways offer a broader platform but also look as though they'll chew your boots up and would look more at home on my Xr400.....thanks.

Dave,

The Verholen peg lowering kit uses the stock footpegs.

You might also look at fitting a pair of pegs from an ST1100 - you need to fabricate a small spacer to do this, but (if you don't mind the pegs being rubber - might be a problem if you intend to play in the dirt) it's probably the cheapest way. Do a search with 'Pan European' and 'Footpegs' - someone posted a pic IIRC.

'Fraid I can't offer you a comparison as I've only tried the Verholen lowering kit. For what it's worth, I've had no problems with the kit so far, fitting was easy and the results very comfy (for a 6'5" lad), well worth the money. Motorworks sells the kit I think. As Mike said, you re-fit the exisiting footpegs using the extension bracket.

I've got the Verholen kit, together with the std Touratech wide pegs, on my Adv.

Last month I met Spanish Bob at the Ace, as he's got Fastway pegs, to compare them.

In a nutshell, my Verholen kit is lower than the Fastway pegs.

I'm assuming that the Touratech pegs are the same height as the Stock pegs when used normally, ie stock pegs or T/T ones used with a Verholen kit would be the same height.

Bob also has a Bill Meyer seat, which is higher than the stock one, so together gave the same leg "stretch" as mine.

However, we swapped my stock saddle onto his bike and found that the Verholen kit feels/is lower.

From memory & if buying new, £90 for the Verholen kit (plus £60 for the Touratech pegs) or just £70 for the Fastway pegs if the height is right for you.

Could be worth seeing if Nippy Norman will send you a set on spec, so you can see if the height is right for you - I'm 6'2"

I have the Fastways, they don't chew my boots up. Big advantage (besides optional lowering) is that is is very easy to stand up: with that big platform and all that grip, I just have to rock forwards a bit and I'm standing up, way way easier than the stock footpegs (which are like trying to stand on popcicle sticks).
